WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Freshman Congresswoman Lauren Underwood is joining the outcry against President’s Trump’s tweet drawing a comparison between Rep. Ilhan Omar and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Omar, D-Minnesota, sparked controversy when she suggested public reaction to 9/11 led to an abridgement of civil rights for Muslim citizens. Trump’s tweeted response was to show video of the Twin Towers burning. Underwood, D-Naperville, said the president should not be making comments that could incite violence against a member of Congress. She notes Capitol Police are stepping up protection for Omar.U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin suggests the President’s tweet-storm is attempting to divert attention from the Mueller Report, which is expected to be released this week.
