CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Police are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted in a pedestrian tunnel near the lakefront Saturday.
Police say the 35-year-old woman was walking through the pedestrian tunnel on the 4900 block of N. Marine Drive holding a liquor bottle at approximately 12:15 a.m. when an unknown male approached her and grabbed the bottle from her.
He then struck her in the head with it and sexually assaulted her before she was eventually able to fight him off. He fled the scene on foot while she ran to her apartment to call police.
CFD responded and took her to a hospital where she is in fair condition for observation along with a minor head injury.
