WBBM NEWSRADIO (CHICAGO) — The Chicago area is on alert again for weather conditions that will elevate the risk of brush fires and wild fires.
The alert runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. National Weather Service officials say conditions will be windy and dry, so they are urging people to take extra care with open flames.
Earlier this week, the Chicago area was under a “red flag warning” because of similar concerns that fires could easily get out of control, especially with dry leaves on the ground.
People should avoid starting outdoor fires that could generate embers and discarding lit cigarettes. Planned burns should be postponed.
