More than 2,200 people have tested positive for the coronavirus, and another 30 people have died from COVID-19, Illinois state health officials said Thursday.

The latest daily case tally — 2,257 — marks another day that Illinois is surging past 2,000, but it comes as the state is coordinating tests at its greatest pace.

The statewide positivity rate is 3.5%, which is considered a relatively low percentage.
