CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 25-year-old man is charged with attempted murder for dragging a Chicago police officer while trying to flee during a traffic stop around 7:50 p.m. on Monday, according to a Chicago police press release.
The officer stopped Aaron Okelola of Wicker Park in his vehicle near 95th and State streets when he took off in the vehicle, dragging the officer alongside it until crashing and throwing the officer. The officer sustained serious injuries.
Okelola was arrested and, in addition to the attempted murder charge, faces charges for attempting to flee the police and driving on a suspended license.
He will appear in bond court on Wednesday.
