Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker says as one Chicago area region shows an improvement in COVID cases there is concern about another, in northwestern Illinois.

Cases are rising in the Rockford, Dixon and Galena areas, the governor noted Wednesday.

He urged people to wear a mask.

Meantime, coronavirus metrics are improving in the region that covers Will and Kankakee counties. The region was temporarily rolled back because of an uptick in cases.

Illinois has more than 1,800 new cases of coronavirus, and 22 more people have died from COVID-19, state health officials reported Wednesday.

The statewide rolling positivity rate is 3.5%.
