11 Day Power Play is Postponed

Hockey Fights Cancer, One Shift at a time

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - On hold.  Organizers of The 11 Day Power Play organization announced Thursday they are not holding their 2020 Community Shift event at HarborCenter in July, due to restrictions resulting from Covid-19. But they are still holding out hope that the event can be rescheduled. 

Executive Director Amy Lesakowski is not ready to throw in the towel. She says tentative reschedule dates are from August 19-30 at HarborCenter, pending approval from the New York State Health Department.

Lesakowski said a decision is expected in the next two weeks.

If the August dates do not work out, they will move to "Plan C". The 11 Day will continue to support cancer research, people with cancer and programs that support cancer patients and their families.They have announced the 11 DayPower Play Big Save, from August 19 - 30, 2010, full of competitive fundraising blitzes by teams and players. The entire event is expected to be documented.

In 2019, Nearly 2,300 players competed for more than 250 hours of continuous hockey.  The event raised over 1.64 million dollars for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Camp Good Days and Make-A-Wish Western New York. This year would mark the 3rd year of The 11 Day Power Play Community Shift.
