BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced the return of the "Clean Sweep" initiative.
The initiative features the police department's use of its SOS Task Force to give quality-of-life services to residents including dental services, health insurance enrollment, homeless outreach, fire prevention education, disaster preparedness, mental health services, and more.
New this year is a crisis intervention coordinator, run by Captain Amber Beyer, to address those in the community who are experiencing a mental health crisis or a crisis from substance abuse.
"The BPDNET will continue to be on clean sweeps with us again this year," Mayor Brown said.
