Erie County to establish coronavirus task force

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - As the number of coronavirus cases in Erie County continues to escalate, the county is establishing a task force to address the situation and its wide-ranging economic implications. Additional details of the task force are expected to be released sometime next week.

County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced that as of Friday evening, there are 310 confirmed cases of coronavirus and there have been six deaths related to the virus.  27 individuals are described to be 'recovered' from the virus.  There are 52 individuals admitted to hospitals in Erie County for COVID-19.

The numbers continue to escalate across Erie County and Health Commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein says, "We haven't even nearly reached our peak".  Burstein is expecting additional fatalities and urges continued social distancing.
