Niagara Falls, NY (WBEN) - Police in Niagara Falls have a suspected kidnapper in custody after a manhunt that began Sunday and lasted most of yesterday.

Police arrested 25 year old Michael Ciskiewic at around 7:00 yesterday evening, after a woman was found chained in his basement on Monroe Avenue.

He was found by police hiding in an industrial area near 24th and Allen last night. Ciskiewic is being charged with kidnapping, rape, burglary, assault and menacing with a weapon, and is scheduled to be in court on Tuesday morning.

Police say the victim has been released from ECMC and is recovering with relatives.

Police had been searching for the suspect ever since they realized he was not in the home at the center of a lengthy Sunday standoff..

WKBW says the woman was taken to a hospital after police used a bloodhound to track her down on Sunday. Police had received a call about an assault at around 1 a.m. Sunday. They found a broken window and blood but no one was at that home.

The woman's family was unable to make contact with her and police returned with the bloodhound. The dog tracked her to another home nearby where she was rescued.
