Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A case of sexual harassment will not lead to criminal charges against an area priest.

Father Jeffrey Nowak had been accused of harassing Matthew Bojanowski while Bojanowski was studying at Christ the King Seminary. Bojanowski claimed he was sexually harassed by Father Jeffrey Nowak, and when he went to then-Bishop Richard Malone, Malone did nothing to address the matter. "He has reported both the initial sexual harassment and the ongoing retaliation in October 2018, and he believes the diocese has not taken any sufficient actions to clamp down on it," said Bojanowski's attorney Barry Covert in August. "He expresses that those are the similar reasons Steven Parisi resigned, and he too needs to step away."

The Erie County DA's office opened up an investigation in September. Monday, a spokesperson says "We thoroughly investigated the matter and no actions rose to the level of criminal activity.”

Nowak had been serving as pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish in Cheektowaga.
