BUFFALO (WBEN - Brendan Keany) - Officials are celebrating the completion of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed landscape at the Darwin Martin House, which marks the final component of the $50 million restoration project that has spanned more than two decades.
Mary Roberts serves as the executive director of the Martin House, and she explained the magnitude of the tenuous, yet rewarding accomplishment.
"Over 25 years, it has expanded from a single building, a $10 million project, to the recreation of Wright's entire design for the Martin House Estate, including the three residences, the three additional support structures, as well as extensive art, glass, furnishings, decorative elements and landscape," she Roberts.
"This place was in rough shape three decades ago, and it was brought back to life with great grandeur and beauty and the natural environment, which was a tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright," said Higgins. "This is a day to celebrate all that is good about Buffalo."
