Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Some targeted portions of Niagara and Orleans counties are drying out and cleaning up after torrential rain drenched the region Monday afternoon.  Intense storms moved from west to east and hovered over the area, dropping months worth of rain in a matter of a couple hours.

National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Welch tells WBEN the rain totals are indeed impressive and targeted communities such as Middleport and Medina.

A much better day ahead across the Western New York region with dry conditions and lower humidity in the forecast.

Much more comfortable today as a passing cold front will significantly drop dew point temperatures. Below is a map of the area & the location of the cold front this morning; along with expected heat index values today, which will be around 10 to 15 degrees below yesterdays values pic.twitter.com/AXlGsQjoxX
