Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It was one for the history books as 125 runners ran the 125th annual YMCA Turkey Trot in Buffalo. The annual tradition usually draws a sellout 14,000 runners but was limited to the symbolic 125 this year as a result of COVID restrictions.

It was a 'waving' start as small groups of runners began the race periodically until all 125 were underway along the 8k course.

The overall male winner Thanksgiving Day was Nicholas Taboni and the overall female finisher was Aileen Hoak-Lange.

The runners who participated in person didn't lack any of the traditional spirit and fun that goes along with the annual tradition, wearing creative and colorful costumes to celebrate the event which raises funds for the YMCA Buffalo Niagara.

The annual event is proudly hosted by WBEN News Anchor Tom Puckett.
