Judge denies BTF bid to keep teachers out of classrooms

Union contends schools are unhealthy and unsafe

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Buffalo Teachers Federation's bid to keep teachers out of the classroom has been denied.

The union says forcing teachers now and students later to attend classes in unsafe and unhealthy conditions puts them at risk.

The district says no one has come down with coronavirus.

BTF President Phil Rumore says in a statement he will proceed with arbitration and proceed with an appeal of Judge Frank Sedita's decision.

The District says "it has maintained that the BTF's allegations regarding the safety of schools were wholly unfounded."

The few issues that teachers may have brought up in the past few weeks have been addressed immediately to the satisfaction of those teachers.
