Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The Diocese of Buffalo will be taking a look at if school and parish consolidation will happen in the near future.
The Diocese announced on Friday that it is putting together a "Diocesan Renewal Task Force" to look at what changes need to be made in the diocese in order to save money moving forward.
“The fact is, many of our parishes and schools are struggling and their viability is uncertain," said Bishop Ed Scharfenberger in a statement. "Our ‘Road to Renewal’ initiative is all about bringing together resources and capabilities to ensure that we don’t in any way withdraw, but increase our impact."
The task force will be charged to look at best practices to learn how other districts have faced similar situations with diminished financial resources and reduced church and school attendance.
