NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A subway rider was stabbed Monday morning by a man who was illegally selling MetroCard swipes, police say.

The rider was entering the 182nd-183rd Street station on the Grand Concourse around 7:30 a.m. when he or she encountered the swipe seller.

The man demanded money from the rider, who proceeded to ignore him.

Police say that’s when the man pulled out a blade and knifed the rider.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital. His or her condition wasn’t immediately known.

The attacker ran off, according to police, who have yet to release any surveillance video.
