Body of missing boy found in water off Randall’s Island: NYPD

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The body of a missing 4-year-old boy was found in the water off Randall’s Island on Tuesday morning, police said.

The NYPD searched the water around Randall’s Island on Saturday and Sunday for the boy, who officials said fell into the Harlem River near the island over the weekend

He had been playing in a soccer field at Randall’s Island Park before he went into the water.

The NYPD confirmed Tuesday night that the body of 4-year-old Brendan Mitchell had been recovered near the Randall's Island Ferry Dock.

The Medical Examiner will determine his cause of death, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
