NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Just in time for autumn, indoor swimming pools will be allowed to reopen at 33% capacity in New York City starting Sept. 30.
“Swimming pools are a community anchor, an exercise center, and an oasis in their neighborhoods — both literally and figuratively," Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement released Friday. "New Yorkers have worked hard to fight back COVID-19. As transmission rates remain low, we’re proud to offer more ways to slowly return to business as usual.”
The health department will conduct inspections to make sure the facilities are complying with coronavirus regulations.
The mayor is asking New Yorkers who see crowding or other unsafe conditions to report it to 311.
