NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early Monday morning on the Long Island Expressway in Queens.
Police responding to a 911 call found a man lying in the roadway unconscious and unresponsive with severe body trauma near exit 19 around 5:13 a.m.
EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene.
The NYPD said the man was walking in the right lane of the westbound side of the highway when was struck. The vehicle fled the scene.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Westbbound lanes were closed for hours as police investigated the crash. They reopened just before 9 a.m.
