NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police in the Dominican Republic have made another arrest in connection with the shooting of Red Sox legend David “Big Papi” Ortiz.
Investigators are still looking into why he was shot.
Dominican authorities say the arrestee is not believed to be the triggerman.
His name has not yet been released and they are still seeking a third suspect in the case.
The first suspect, Eddy Feliz Garcia, has been charged with attempted homicide and criminal association.
As he fled after the shooting, club-goers tackled him and beat hi up before he was turned over to police.
His attorney is now saying Garcia is actually accused of being the motorcycle driver who carried the actual shooter.
Ortiz underwent a second surgery Tuesday in Boston and his wife Tiffany says he is stable, awake and resting comfortably.
Ortiz is expected to remain in the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital several days.
