Ahead of National Coming Out Day, Shira Lazar and Ryan Mitchell sat down with Them. Editor In Chief, Whembley Sewell to discuss why we call attention to this day, and why visibility on October 11th is more in important in 2020 than ever before.

Them, "a next-generation community platform, chronicles and celebrates the stories, people and voices that are emerging and inspiring all of us, ranging in topics from pop culture and style to politics and news, all through the lens of today’s LGBTQ community."

While we celebrate National Coming Out day this Sunday, October 11th, 2020, both CHANNEL Q and Them. want to point out the nuance that comes with the day. It is crucial to highlight the LGBTQ+ community's triumphs. However, we also use the day to think of all the community members who are not ready to come out yet, or those who cannot come out due to safety reasons or stigmas. We are here for you and we see you.
