Mastermind behind David Ortiz shooting arrested, Dominican Republic officials say

The alleged mastermind who orchestrated the June 9 shooting of David Ortiz has been arrested, according to officials in the Dominican Republic on Friday.

Victor Hugo Gomez, who is also facing federal drug trafficking charges in Texas, allegedly ordered a hit involving over a dozen people on his cousin, Sixto David Fernandez, rather than Ortiz, according to Dominican officials when Gomez was identified as suspect on June 19, after Ortiz was shot in the back in the Dial Bar and Lounge in Santo Domingo.
