Patriots downgrade 3 key veterans to out vs. Redskins

By WEEI 93.7

As the team prepared to travel to Washington Saturday afternoon in advance of Sunday’s game against the Redskins, the Patriots downgraded three key veteran player to out for the contest.

Safety Patrick Chung will miss the trip to Washington with a heel injury, running back Rex Burkhead will be sidelined due to a foot injury and special teamer Nate Ebner will sit out with a groin injury. For Chung and Burkhead it’s their first game of the season missed to injury, while Ebner has now missed two of the first five weeks.

Burkhead, Chung and Ebner were three of the five players listed on New England’s Friday injury report as questionable for the trip to Washington.

That leaves wide receiver Julian Edelman (chest) and linebacker Dont’a Hightower (shoulder) as questionable for the game against the Redskins.

Hightower sat out last Sunday’s game in Buffalo.
