Even while preparing for the Red Sox’ game against the Texas Rangers, Alex Cora is mindful of the other sporting event Boston is set to host Wednesday: Game 7.
"Two words that the sports fans love to hear, should be fun," said Cora. "You know, they’ve done an outstanding job winning Game 6, and they worked so hard to get to this point, so I wish them luck."
His score prediction: Bruins defeating the Blues 4-1.
Cora is familiar with Game 7’s himself. He was the bench coach of the Houston Astros, when the team defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 of the 2017 World Series. Cora has also seen the other side of Game 7’s when he was the starting shortstop in the Red Sox’s 3-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2008 American League Championship Series.
After the Patriots Super Bowl LIII win and the Red Sox’s World Series win earlier this year, Cora noted the unique possibility for Boston to earn another championship title.
"It’d be amazing to have three trophies here in the city at the same time," he added.
