Happy Wednesday. Hey, you heard the good news - baseball is officially back!

All remaining issues have been resolved and Players are reporting to training camps.

And even after all the squabbling fans are psyched! Just don't get so excited you feel the need to crack a cold one and start celebrating immediately (we do not frown on beverage enjoyment at any time of day here at The Mashup, however you can file this under "You have NOT been doing it the wrong way")

BROADCAST HIGHLIGHT

2018 Red Sox Postseason Encore ALDS Game 1: Red Sox vs. New York Yankees - NESN, 8 p.m.

Knowing that we're but a month-ish away from competitive MLB action, finally, this recent postseason gem should get the flames of rivalry stoked for you.

GILLY LOCK ON TOP SPOT

Stephon Gilmore, reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, routinely draws recognition from media, fans and opponents alike as the best corner currently in the game. And on Tuesday another national outlet recognized his top level of play.

Top 10 Cornerbacks in the NFL(According to @VoiceOfTheStar)1. Stephon Gilmore2. Marcus Peters3. Joe Haden4. Jalen Ramsey5. Patrick Peterson6. Byron Jones7. Tre’Davious White8. Xavien Howard9. Chris Harris Jr.10. Marshon Lattimore pic.twitter.com/YGgDJ40S2P

Gilmore's top flight play will continue to be an asset, and much needed, for a Pats team in transition in the 2020 season. However, what makes this ranking fun to parse through for the football fan, is how angry the overall rankings made fans. This item made The Mashup, and merited headline status, all due to the fact that Joe Haden was trending Tuesday night. And like many we clicked through and fell knee-deep in a football fan offseason rankings twitter storm. Which is great! Not Gilmore great. But still fun. Good to see the passion hasn't been extinguished by the madness of 2020. Follow the comments through on the tweet for a good laugh.

NO, BUT SERIOUSLY ... BASEBALL'S BACK

And here we were, all ready to be mad at you. Well, we kinda are. But still, our love of game multiplied by our need for live sports, means you're sort of going to get off the hook. For a while. And while we might remember how frustrating the prolonged labor dispute during the pandemic was, if this reconfigured season length and game play works out, maybe we'll al sort things out and get back to BAE (Baseball Above Everyone) status.

There will be a DH.There will be a man on 2nd in the 10th.There will be a trade deadline Aug 31.There will be expanded rosters.THERE WILL BE BASEBALL!

TWIB: THIS WEEK IN BRADY

Tom Brady continues to make if not set the newscycle in sports during these crazy times. Of late he's garnered some internet shaming for continuing to hold group workouts in the face of the NFLPA recommending group workouts be halted to stem spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. Especially on a team where multiple players have tested positive recently.

Despite NFLPA advising that players should not work out together, Tom Brady led another Bucs workout this morning https://t.co/Hxzb0VfIm4

But Brady is Brady, and he's going to do everything in his power to get ready and be the best he can be. We'll reserve judgment on this one, seeing as if he was still in New England we'd be praising him for the workouts. However, maybe posting about it and tagging the tight end you talked out of retirement might not be the best idea?

BECAUSE WE NEED THIS

Seriously...we all need this four legged hero in our lives.

In Georgia, there's a stray dog who has made it his job to protect this kindergarten class — so they can cross the street safely. He shows up every single day — even cursing out the cars that don't stop.Dogs, bruh...pic.twitter.com/HwaRCdf2lK
