Ex-Celtics forward Al Horford is the latest NBA player to make a significant donation to help those battling the novel coronavirus. He’s lending a helping hand to Philadelphia, where he now plays, and the Dominican Republic, his home country.
But that’s not all.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Horford is donating money to Boston and Atlanta, the other two cities he called home while in the NBA. He is also donating money to Gainsville, Florida, where he played in college, and he’s sending money to Michigan, where he played in high school.
The reported sum is $500,000.
