Back on December 26, the University of Evansville placed men’s basketball coach and former Celtic Walter McCarty on administrative leave. Evansville received reports of “alleged sexual misconduct and violations of the University’s Title IX policies,” and had a national law firm carry out an external investigation.
Evansville issued warnings to McCarty about his behavior last year. Throughout the process, the school received additional reports of his misconduct off the court.
The investigation is still ongoing, but Evansville announced on Tuesday, “based on the facts uncovered thus far, it is necessary to terminate Mr. McCarty’s employment immediately.”
