Tacko Fall didn’t score until there was 3:57 left in the third quarter of Maine’s game against the College Park Skyhawks (Atlanta) on Sunday. He finished with nine points, seven rebounds and one blocked shot, but his time was limited more than usual (15 minutes) as a result of College Park’s approach and the fact Fall got into foul trouble (five).

January 19, 2020 College Park made it tough for Fall to get position inside on the offensive end. When he was successful, the Skyhawks made sure he didn’t get many easy looks (2-for-5 on free throws).

January 19, 2020 The other issue was College Park’s Marcus Derrickson didn’t allow Maine’s big man to hover around the paint on the defensive end like he usually does. Derrickson launched 13 3-pointers and made 5, stretching the floor enough for his teammates to get attempts at the rim even when Fall was in.

January 19, 2020 The Red Claws still won the game 108-107 on a last-second floater from Justin Bibbs.

January 19, 2020 While Bibbs had a good game (15 points) and hit the big shot, it was Carsen Edwards who provided the majority of Maine’s offense throughout. The Celtics rookie scored 28 points on 10-for-19 shooting (4-for-11 from deep).

January 19, 2020 Edwards also had seven rebounds and four assists. The biggest issue with his performance was turnovers — Edwards committed six of them.
