With the loss to Miami on Sunday, the Patriots missed out on a first-round bye and now will host the Titans Saturday night on Wild Card Weekend.
Given the team treated it like a playoff game, there could be some question of how the team will regroup mentally following not getting the first-round bye.
Appearing on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria Monday with Greg Dickerson, Andy Hart and Steve DeOssie filling in, Bill Belichick doesn't seem to believe it will be an issue.
“I have a lot of confidence in this team," he said. "These guys have been through a lot. They work hard. Nobody feels good about (Sunday’s game). I think they will move on. I think they will respond and they will compete the right way.”
Belichick added: “This is the National Football League. There are disappointments over the course of the season, that’s part of it. There are ups and downs. You have some big wins and you have some tough losses. Moving on is part of what a good football team can do, or does, or needs to do. Hopefully we’re in that category.”
The Patriots will be playing on Wild Card Weekend for the first time since 2009.
Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. and with a win the Patriots would play Kansas City the following Sunday.
