When it comes to Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo, some people believe Brady didn't exactly like his backup for 3.5 years in New England.
There was the thought that he felt threatened by him and didn't want to help him out very much because of that.
Listening to Garoppolo speak at the Super Bowl in Miami this week, it seems like that was the furthest thing from the truth.
“He was awesome,” Garoppolo said to reporters, including NESN.com. “Everything he did, I never tried to be too much of a pest and ask too many questions. But just watching him from afar, how he went about his business, how he handled off the field things on the field, whatever it was, he always did it the right way. He gave me a good example when I was young.”
Garoppolo and Brady were joined in the quarterbacks room for the 2016 season by Jacoby Brissett, which the three referred to as "The Wolfpack." They stayed close even when Garoppolo and Brissett went to other teams with the pair joining Brady and his group at the Kentucky Derby.
“We were a tight crew,” Garoppolo said. “That quarterback room was a lot of fun to be in. We all kept each other on our toes, bust each other up a little bit. It was all in good spirit. We’d keep each other honest and I love those guys."
The 49ers quarterback said earlier in the week at Opening Night that Brady had texted him following the NFC title game win over Green Bay.
So while many pushed the narrative that Brady didn't like Garoppolo very much, that doesn't appear to be the case -- at least in Garoppolo's eyes.
