As a whole, the Patriots offseason in terms of free agent signings has been pretty underwhelming.
But, things could pick up a bit beginning Tuesday afternoon.
Starting at midnight, any players signed do not count towards the compensatory pick formula, so teams will not have signings go against them when it comes to landing potential comp picks in the 2020 NFL draft. So far, the Patriots are expected to land a third-rounder and then two sixth-rounders.
Over the years, the Patriots have been one of the more conscious teams in the league when it comes to this, so perhaps that is one of the reasons why they have been so quiet the past couple weeks with a few needs still needing to be filled.
Some potential names to keep an eye on include: defensive lineman Allen Bailey, defensive lineman Benny Logan, offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, tight end Ben Watson and wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
It is worth pointing out the Patriots' active roster is maxed out at 90 players, so if a player is signed a corresponding release would need to come.
