FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots have added a player to their practice squad.
On Wednesday, it was announced tight end Jason Vander Laan has been signed. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Jets out of Ferris State in 2016. He has bounced around between the Colts and Panthers since, but only has appeared in four NFL games, all coming with the Colts in 2017.
Most recently, he was cut by the Panthers at the end of training camp this summer.
New England worked him out a few weeks ago.
Vander Laan played quarterback at Ferris State, setting the NCAA all-divisions record for career rushing yards by a quarterback with 5,953.
