When it comes to the center position, the Patriots did not really have much depth behind David Andrews.

That apparently has changed, as according to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the team has added Tyler Gauthier pending a physical and COVID-19 testing. The move comes following a free agent visit.

Gauthier is familiar to the Patriots as he was signed as a UDFA last season and spent some time on the practice squad.

Besides Andrews and Gauthier, the Patriots only have Dustin Woodard, who the team selected in the seventh round this past April, at the position.

It made a good amount of sense to add another player and one who has some experience prior to training camp, especially with Andrews making his return after missing last season due to blood clots in his lungs.
