One of the Patriots' best players will not be on the field with the rest of the team as it opens training camp.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates, Julian Edelman is expected to miss about three weeks with a thumb injury. A photo surfaced over the weekend of the wide out at his camp with a small brace on his thumb.

This isn't a huge deal given Edelman already has great chemistry with Tom Brady and could potentially give the team a better look at the newer wide outs. But, this means the Patriots will not have their full complement of players on the field for several weeks into camp.

The current wide receiver depth chart includes: Edelman, N'Keal Harry, Phillip Dorsett, Demaryius Thomas, Dontrelle Inman, Maurice Harris, Braxton Berrios, Damoun Patterson, Jakobi Meyers, Ryan Davis and Gunner Olszewski.
