Julian Edelman had one of his best years as a pro last season when he finished with 100 receptions for 1,117 yards (career-high) and six touchdowns.
So, how will he do with Jarrett Stidham as his quarterback and not Tom Brady?
Some believe he could be in line for another career year as there aren't many other receiving options for Stidham to go to, while others believes he will not have the same numbers because defenses will do what they can to eliminate him.
Ordway, Merloni & Fauria discussed the topic Thursday and two of the three believe he will have a down year from a year ago. Christian Fauria and Lou Merloni believe Edelman will have less than 900 receiving yards, while Glenn Ordway is taking the over.
“I am going under. To assume it is going to be similar to (with Tom) Brady, it can’t be.” Fauria said.
He added: “I said the offense is better off without (Brady), I didn’t say (Edelman) was going to have a banner year.”
Merloni agrees and said the offense being successful is more on the shoulders of the other wide receivers and the running game.
“In order for this offense to be better, you have to have a healthy Mohamed Sanu, maybe he can play at the level he has played," he said. "He know he’s never been a No. 1, whatever. … It is N’Keal Harry and it is the running game because of your offensive line. I think Julian Edelman takes a hit with no Tom Brady."
