The Patriots and every other NFL team need to have their initial 53-man rosters set by Saturday and with that comes a lot of talk of players on the bubble.

With how deep the Patriots roster is, they have a number of bubble players, which Andy Hart and Ryan Hannable discussed on the latest Off Day podcast.

They did disagree on one bubble player, though. Deatrich Wise.

Hannable believes the Arkansas product has the potential to be cut, even though he has him on the roster in his latest projection.

“Deatrich Wise, not in trouble in my opinion,” Hart said. “Stunned may be a little bit strong, but if he is cut it will be a shocker.”

“I think honestly what they are going to do at defensive end is have those linebackers play defensive end,” Hannable countered.

Hart didn’t like that idea.

“We’re going to have (Dont'a) Hightower play defensive end like in past years? That didn’t work very well,” he said.

Hannable continued to push the idea of outside linebackers playing some defensive end, but Hart doesn’t think it will work.

“You have a lot of versatile linebackers who can play defensive end,” said Hannable.

“I think the more they play with their hand down and it’s not just a situational thing, there are diminishing returns on that,” Hart replied.

There were a few others Hart and Hannable disagreed on, including Duke Dawson, Keion Crossen and Calvin Munson.
