On a busy afternoon of Celtics news, the team announced that it has extended qualifying offers to center Tacko Fall and guard Tremont Waters.
Fall and Waters both bounced back and forth between Boston and the G League Maine Red Claws last season as rookies.
The 7-foot-5 Fall became a fan favorite sensation in both Boston and Portland. He appeared in seven games for the Celtics, averaging 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds in those appearances. He averaged 12.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for the Red Claws.
Waters, meanwhile, was named the G League Rookie of the Year after averaging 18 points and 7.3 assists per game for Maine. He also appeared in 11 games for Boston, averaging 3.6 points and 1.5 assists per game.
Earlier Thursday, reports emerged that the Celtics did not extend a qualifying offer to Brad Wanamaker, and that Enes Kanter exercised his player option.
Most importantly, Gordon Hayward has reportedly decided to opt out of his contract and head to free agency.
