We found out Tuesday night that the Celtics would be hosting Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets on Christmas Day.
Now we know that their season-opener two nights before won't be any easier. The NBA announced Wednesday afternoon the Celtics will begin their 2020-21 campaign by hosting Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, Dec. 23.
The Celtics and Bucks have met in the playoffs in two of the last three seasons, with Boston winning an opening-round series in 2018 and Milwaukee taking a second-round series in 2019.
They did not meet this past postseason, however, as both were eliminated by the Miami Heat -- the Bucks in the second round and the Celtics in the conference finals.
The NBA season begins one night before the Celtics' opener, with a Nets-Warriors (aka The Kevin Durant Bowl) and Lakers-Clippers doubleheader on the 22nd.
