Earlier Saturday, it was reported that the Celtics and veteran forward Paul Millsap were in serious discussions about a deal.
That won't be happening, though. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Millsap will instead be returning to the Denver Nuggets on a one-year, $10 million-plus deal.
It's another blow for the Celtics, who also lost Gordon Hayward to the Charlotte Hornets -- without getting anything return -- on Saturday.
The Celtics still have a number of positions that could use addressing, especially in terms of depth, but the frontcourt remains the biggest, and Millsap could've helped there.
The Celtics traded away Enes Kanter after he opted into his deal and moved Vincent Poirier as well, so there is certainly room for them to add a big or two.
