I'm all for nice, heartwarming displays of respect and camaraderie between teammates. But is Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You" playing throughout the background of the following video a little bit dramatic, or is that just me?

Okay, okay, I apologize. I didn't mean to ruin the moment.

It was an affectionate display between two longtime teammates who have been through several campaigns together, starting with Schwarber's rookie year and Lester's first year in Chicago in 2015. It was a tremendous start (97-65) that only got better, as the two played meaningful roles in capturing the Cubs' first World Series ring in over 100 years. Schwarber's dramatic return to action after an early-season injury in the Fall Classic led to an outstanding performance (7-20, .412/.500/.471) immediately following Lester's NLCS MVP display.

Since then, the two have formed a powerhouse, with Schwarber's monumental home runs boosting the energy of the team and Lester's poise and leadership proving extremely important to the organization's success. 2020 very well may be their last run together, as Lester has already hinted that this was likely his final game in a Cubs uniform.

While the tear-jerking display that took place in the above video left fans with a bittersweet feeling of nostalgia and admiration, the Cubs can add even more emotion in this pair's potential final year by proving that their first-place finish in the NL Central was no fluke. They start off the 2020 postseason with what should be an easy series with the Miami Marlins, a team that absolutely no one expected to make it this far, and can continue to build momentum and give these two fan-favorite Cubs a longer ride together.
