With just over 12 minutes to go in Sunday's game against the Raiders, the Patriots were out of timeouts.
All three in the second half were used by the defense, which came following using one in the first half, as it seemed there were issues with substituting and getting the right personnel on the field. On a few occasions the unit had 12 players, instead of the standard 11.
Appearing on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria Monday afternoon, Bill Belichick took the blame.
“Just bad coaching, really," he said. "I have to do a better job. Just not good coaching.”
Belichick added: “We had to use our timeouts because there were problems. I have to do a better job. We got to be able to play without using our timeouts.”
This seems like something Belichick will almost immediately address with the coaching staff as it is very uncharacteristic of a Belichick-coached team.
