Cam Newton has certainly improved over the course of the 2020 season, but it's still evident he has some learning to do when it comes to the Patriots offense.
The QB only signed a one-year deal this past offseason, so ever since he signed there was a question of how long the marriage will last?
Will Newton sign elsewhere for the 2021 season, or will he look to return to New England?
Appearing on The Greg Hill Show Monday following the 27-20 loss to the Texans, Newton was asked if he wants to be a Patriot in 2021?
“Man, I have interest in winning the Arizona Cardinals game," he said after laughing. "How about that? There are so many things that I don’t want to even harp or dwell or even think [about]. As the Bible says, ‘my [cup] runneth over’ with just trying to focus on the near future rather than the far future.”
With the loss Sunday, the Patriots are now 4-6 on the year and in danger of not making the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
“[Winning games is] easier said than done," Newton said. "We have guys on this team who have been part of Super Bowls. We have guys on this team that have been part of successful seasons and we have guys on this team that know how to win. It’s not like we’re going out there and saying, ‘OK, we’re just going to lose this one.’ That has to go into people’s mentality. We want to win just as much if not more than anybody who follows us. Trust and believe that.”
The Patriots will host the Cardinals this week.
