There is a big Patriots game coming up Sunday, and Boston mayor Marty Walsh knows it.

He also realizes with big sporting events comes big celebrations and watch parties. It’s why Walsh is making is going out of his way to discourage what would be typical behavior for Patriots fans.

This is, of course, all due to the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases.

“We’re asking people for your cooperation. First – to anyone who’s hosting house parties, I’m urging you not to do it,” Walsh said. “On Sunday, when the Patriots play, we are asking you not to have house parties. We’re asking you not to gather in large groups.”

Walsh has identified these sort of get-togethers as part of the problem when it comes to the consistent issues with spreading the coronavirus.

“And anyone who’s invited to a party, my suggestion to you is make the right decision – the right choice – and don’t go. Find a safer way to socialize,” he said. “We need everyone to remain vigilant.”
