Cam Newton admits his chemistry with Julian Edelman needs improvement

While Cam Newton and Julian Edelman may have great chemistry off the field with social media, it hasn’t translated to the field, at least over the last several weeks.

In the last three games with Newton at quarterback, Edelman has five catches for 44 yards. For the year, Edelman has 21 catches for 315 yards, but 179 of those yards  came in Week 2’s loss to the Seahawks.

Speaking after the blow out loss to the 49ers Sunday, Newton acknowledged his chemistry with Edelman isn’t what it needs to be.

“Well, we got to figure it out. We got to figure it out,” he said. “Our Wi-Fi is definitely off. And it's frustrating because knowing the person Julian is and knowing the body of work that he puts in each and every week and day and from preparation to biometrically with his body, you fall in love with a person like that. And with me, I just want to win. I just want to find a way to win. And here of late, that hasn't been the case.

“So we have a team full of warriors. We have a team full of guys who knows how to figure certain things out and that's what we're just going to have to do here moving forward.”

Given the Patriots’ issues at wide receiver — just one passing touchdown and eight interceptions when targeting them — it’s obvious Edelman and Newton need to get it going.
