Of all the Red Sox promotions this season, this one might be the most intriguing.
The team announced Sunday morning that Tanner Houck will be getting the start Tuesday against the Marlins, marking the former first-round pick’s major league debut.
Houck has been participating with the Red Sox’ extended roster at McCoy Stadium this season, having pitched for the Triple-A PawSox in 16 games (2 starts) in 2019. The righty also served as a starter during the most recent Arizona Fall League season.
The former University of Missouri standout was the 24th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft and will become the 14th player out of that first round to make the major leagues.
