100 mph-throwing Robert Stock moving on from Red Sox, claimed by Cubs

He represented a great story, if not great 2020results.

Robert Stock - the pitcher who salvaged his career thanks to a YouTube video after once being identified as the best 13-year-old baseball player in the country - has been claimed by the Cubs.

The 31-year-old reliever had been designated for assignment by the Red Sox in order to make room for recently acquired pitcher Joel Payamps.

Stock, who was drafted in the second round by the Cardinals as a catcher, appeared in 10 games for the Red Sox, giving up seven earned runs in 16 innings, striking out 14 and walking 10.
