Aaron Boone was not happy when Gleyber Torres was not named to the American League All-Star team. Well, Boone will now get his wish.

Major League Baseball announced Thursday that Torres has been named to the AL All-Star team as an injury replacement. The Yankees infielder will take the place of Rays rookie Brandon Lowe in the Midsummer Classic.

Lowe was placed on the injured list Thursday with a bruised right shin.

"It's a joke that he's not on that team," Boone told reporters on Wednesday. "Gleyber Torres not an All-Star? You can kick rocks on that one. That's ridiculous."

Boone isn't wrong. Torres is hitting .298 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs in 78 games. In a stacked Yankees lineup, Torres is second on the team in homers and slugging percentage (.543) and tied for third in RBIs.

Torres will join his teammates DJ LeMahieu, Gary Sanchez and Aroldis Chapman July 9 in Cleveland in the All-Star Game at Progressive Field.
