The Bird was the word on WFAN for 30 minutes this past weekend, as Ian Eagle joined Eddie Coleman and Dave Sims to relive some glory days at the station!

Of course, Eddie C is currently the Mets beat reporter for WFAN, but back in the day, he and current Mariners broadcaster Sims were the station’s midday team. And, during that time, Eagle was also with WFAN, working first as an intern and a producer, then an update anchor, before getting his own show and eventually moving into play-by-play duties for the Nets – a role he still holds to this day as part of the YES Network team – and Jets.

Bird even got back to his roots for a few minutes, delivering a WFAN Sports Flash that included news about Masahiro Tanaka, Joey Chestnut, and an admission that he has never had mustard.

It’s been a long time since we heard words from the Bird on 660 AM and 101.9 FM, but you can check out the full segment with Bird, Eddie C and Dave Sims below, and check out more on-demand audio from WFAN’s special holiday weekend slate!
