Mike Francesa had some stern words Sunday morning for people who celebrated Knicks and Rangers owner James Dolan's coronavirus diagnosis

"For those who actually took the time to cheer when you heard that he was stricken with the virus, I mean, come on. You're better than that," Francesa said on WFAN. "That's messed up. On any level, that's messed up.

"And he should be lauded here for how he's handled his employees. Because he's making sure they get paid through May 3. And you know what? A lot of other employers aren't. So when he does something that's fair and right, give him the credit he deserves. And anybody rooting against him, hey, step back for a second and think about what you're doing. You want that karma in this world right now?"

The Knicks announced Saturday night that Dolan tested positive for COVID-19. Dolan, 64, "has been in self-isolation and is experiencing little to no symptoms," the team said.

Immediately afterward, memes and gifs were being posted on Twitter either celebrating or laughing about the news that Dolan, an unpopular owner among Knicks fans, had contracted the virus.

"Nobody roots for somebody to get sick," Francesa said. "I don't care what you think about how he runs his basketball team. Nobody roots for anybody to get sick. Ever. You're better than that. You have to be better than that. We all have to better than that."

On Friday night, The Madison Square Garden Co. reportedly notified members of its event staffs at multiple venues that it will pay them through May 3. In addition, a relief fund has been established to help employees in need. Madison Square Garden is donating $1 million, the Dolan Family Foundation is giving $1 million and the MSG management team is donating $300,000 to the fund.
